To help us answer in one reply, please include:
- your device (for example iPhone 15 or Pixel 8);
- the iOS or Android version;
- the Pinfall version, shown in the app under More > About;
- what you tapped, what you expected and what happened instead. A screenshot helps.
Pinfall is a small independent app. Every email is read and answered as soon as we can, which is usually within a few days but can take longer.
How do I restore Pinfall Pro?
Pinfall Pro is a one-time purchase, so you never pay for it twice. Pinfall checks with the App Store or Google Play when it opens, so after a reinstall or on a new phone Pro usually comes back by itself. If it does not:
- Make sure the store is signed in with the account you bought Pro with: the same Apple Account on iPhone and iPad, the same Google account on Android.
- In Pinfall, open More and tap Pinfall Pro (it shows Unlock).
- Tap Restore purchase.
When it works, More shows Pinfall Pro · Unlocked. If you see "No previous purchase found on this Apple ID" (or "on this Google account"), the store is signed in with a different account from the one that bought Pro. Restoring is free.
A purchase stays with its store: Pro bought on the App Store unlocks Pinfall on iPhone and iPad, and Pro bought on Google Play unlocks it on Android.
Family Sharing (iPhone and iPad): Pinfall Pro supports Apple's Family Sharing. If purchase sharing is on in your family group, family members get Pro on their own devices. If it does not show up, they tap Restore purchase the same way.
How do I back up or export my data?
Everything is saved on your phone as you go. On top of that:
- iPhone and iPad: Pinfall backs up to your own iCloud Drive automatically after changes. The Backup card at the top of More shows the real state, for example Saved on this phone, Uploading to iCloud…, Backed up with the time, or iCloud is off. Tap Back up now to run one right away. Backups need iCloud Drive turned on (Settings > [your name] > iCloud).
- Android: Android backs up Pinfall with your phone's backup when it is on. Timing is up to Android. For a copy you control, export a file.
- Export: More > Export, then choose Pinfall file (everything: bowlers, leagues, sessions, frames) or CSV (games and frames, for spreadsheets), then Share or save. Only a Pinfall file can be brought back into the app.
Bringing data back in:
- More > Import merges games from a Pinfall file into what is already on the phone. Nothing on the phone is replaced unless you choose.
- Restore from a backup (iPhone and iPad, on the Backup card) and Replace with a file (Android) replace everything on the phone with a backup or a Pinfall file. Your current data is kept for 7 days: More > Backup > Restore previous data brings it back.
How do I move to a new phone?
iPhone or iPad to iPhone or iPad
- On the old phone, check that the Backup card in More says Backed up, or tap Back up now.
- On the new phone, sign in with the same Apple Account and turn on iCloud Drive.
- Install Pinfall. On the first screen, tap Bring your history, then Restore from iCloud, pick the backup and tap Replace.
Already started on the new phone? Use More > Restore from a backup instead. It replaces what is on that phone with the backup.
Android to Android
If the new phone restored your apps from your Google backup, Pinfall's first screen says We found your Pinfall backup. Tap Restore.
If it does not, use a file: on the old phone, More > Export > Pinfall file and save it somewhere the new phone can reach (for example Google Drive or email). On the new phone, tap Bring your history > Import a Pinfall file on the first screen, or later More > Replace with a file.
Between iPhone and Android
iCloud and Google backups stay with their own platform, so use a file: export a Pinfall file on the old phone and import it on the new one, the same way as above.
Then, if Pro does not show as Unlocked, restore it (see above). Pro does not move between the App Store and Google Play.
How do I delete my data?
Pinfall has no account and no server that holds your bowling data, so deleting happens on your own devices and accounts:
- Bowling data on the phone: delete the app. On iPhone and iPad the free league night marker (no personal data) stays in the keychain afterwards; erasing the device (Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings) removes it.
- iCloud backups: Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage > Pinfall (wording varies by iOS version), or turn off iCloud for Pinfall.
- Android backup: managed in your Google account's backup settings.
- Files you exported: they live wherever you saved or sent them; delete them there.
- Analytics and crash data: kept by Mixpanel and Firebase for their standard retention. To ask us to delete the analytics tied to your install, email pinfall@benbasha.com with the app version and the approximate install date and we will action it.
Inside the app: open a session and tap Delete session, or open a league and tap Delete league (you type the league's name to confirm; its seasons, sessions and games are deleted, bowlers stay). Either way a recovery copy is kept on the phone for 7 days. To undo, go to More > Backup > Restore previous data while it shows "available until" a date. It replaces everything on the phone with the copy from just before the delete. See the privacy policy for what the app stores and sends.
